Optical coherence tomography angiography in wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
Over the last decades, substantial developments in retinal imaging offered a paradigmatic change in the understanding of the pathophysiology of wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD). We have reached a point of sophistication that seemed unattainable a few years ago. A myriad of imaging devices is now available at our discretion, representing a unique opportunity to offer our patients better clinical care. In order to reduce the risk of progressive and enduring visual loss associated with wet AMD, early identification and prompt initiation of treatment is warranted.
Research progress in measurement of human accommodative amplitude
Accommodation is an important function of the human eye, can change the parameters of ocular refractive system and also has a strong correlation with the development of myopia and presbyopia. Several subjective measurements have been applied in accommodation assessment such as push-up test, push-down test and minus-lens procedures. It can be measured objectively by measuring the change in refraction of the eye with dynamic retinoscopy or autorefractor. This article reviews the application of measurement of accommodative amplitude and research progress in accommodation, providing clinical information for further studies.
Outcomes of coaxial micro-incision phacoemulsification in nanophthalmic eyes: report of retrospective case series
The surgical risk and complication rate after cataract surgery are extremely high in patients with nanophthalmos. This study is designed to compare the visual and refractive outcomes before and after coaxial micro-incision phacoemulsification and evaluate postoperative complications. Fifty nine patients (89 eyes) with axial length (AL) < 21 mm diagnosed with nanophthalmos were enrolled in this retrospective study.
Long term changes of posterior corneal elevation after myopiclaser in situ keratomileusis
Scatterplot diagram showing the correlation between the ablation spherical equivalent and the posterior corneal elevation changes at 6 years postop. Ablation spherical equivalent values were positively correlated with the PCE changes, suggesting that higher ablation spherical equivalent values were associated with agreater forward shift of posterior corneal elevation. PCE, posterior corneal elevation.
