Aims and Scope
The YAN KE XUE BAO/Eye Science (YKXB, ISSN:1000-4432; CN:44-1119/R) has been monthly published by Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, sponsored by Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, China since 1985 and openly distributed worldwide. YKXB publishes manuscripts that describe new findings in the field to provide current, practical information on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions related to ophthalmology. Original articles are considered most important and will be processed for rapid review by the members of Editorial Board. Clinical trial notes, Cancer genetics reports, Epidemiology notes and Technical notes are also published. Case reports implying new findings that have significant clinical impact are carefully processed for possible publication. All the submission and reviewing are conducted electronically so that rapid review is assured. The journal is indexed in a series of international renown databases: CA, CNKI, WANFANG DATA, CQVIP, aiming at bringing more latest ophthalmological progress towards a wider range of readership.
Introduction to the Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center (ZOC)
After more than 50 years of growth and advancement, Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center (ZOC; http://english.gzzoc.com), affiliated to Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, has rapidly burst into a leading ophthalmic center both at home and abroad with a complete set of disciplines, strong faculty team, advanced diagnosis and treatment equipment, innovative medical excellence and in-depth scientific research. Domestically, ZOC is rated as the first Grade III Level A ophthalmic hospital and the only State Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology in China. It has been ranked No.1 in the specialty of ophthalmology on the China’s Hospital Rankings List initiated by Fudan University for 10 consecutive years and No.1 in the specialty of ophthalmology on the Science and Technology Evaluation Metrics (STEM) List of Chinese Hospitals launched by Institute of Medical Information of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences for six consecutive years.
Submission Turnaround Time
- In-house review: 1–3 weeks
- External peer review: 1–3 months
- Publication ahead of print: within 1 month after being accepted
- Formal publication: within 1–3 months after being accepted. Original articles are considered priority.

All content of the journal is published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). All articles published under open access will be immediately and permanently free for all to read, download, copy, and distribute as defined by the applied license.

Article Processing Charges
YAN KE XUE BAO/Eye Science(ES) is the official journal of Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-sen University (ZOC). ES is an open access journal funded by the ZOC. Currently, all APCs are covered by the ZOC so there are no publication charges for authors whose work is accepted for publication in ES.
